Packing RAM properly
RAM is the easiest component to damage in shipping. Bent gold contacts kill resale value.
Step 1
Wrap individually
Bubble wrap around each stick. Never let two sticks touch — they slide and the contacts catch.
Step 2
Anti-static if you can
Anti-static bag is ideal, especially for high-capacity sticks. Bubble wrap alone is fine for desktop DIMMs.
Step 3
Box, not envelope
Even with bubble wrap, an envelope crushes too easily. A small cardboard box is fine.
Step 4
Fill the void
Crumpled paper around the wrapped sticks so nothing shifts. Tape securely; courier sortation is rough.
