From quote to paid bank balance.
Six steps. You post to us at your own cost. Bench-tested grading on receipt. Paid by Faster Payments after the report's accepted.
We test everything on receipt — at no cost to you
Plenty of sellers don't have a way to bench-test what they're sending us. That's fine. We test every component on arrival at no extra charge — boots, pin check, thermal check at full load for CPUs; memtest passes for RAM; SMART + read-back for drives. You only pay UK postage to us.
Returned at our cost
Anything that fails testing we either return to you at our expense, or route via our WEEE channel — your call. You're never out of pocket for sending us components that turn out not to work.
1 · Get a quote
Use our live prices page to build a quote yourself, or email a list and we'll quote within working hours, Mon–Fri.
Quotes are valid for 7 days. Lock yours in by accepting it via the link in your confirmation email — the price is fixed regardless of market movement after that.
2 · Photo ID
One-time check on your first sale; details kept on file for repeat sales.
Photo ID
Passport, photocard driving licence, biometric residence permit, or national ID card. Phone snap is fine.
Proof of address
Utility bill, bank or credit card statement, council tax letter, or HMRC letter — dated within the last 3 months.
UK law (Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013) requires us to verify the seller of any used IT components. More on photo ID and what counts →
3 · How to pack
Bad packing is the most common reason a Grade A quote drops to Grade B on receipt.
Original box if you have it (the clamshell does the work). Otherwise: antistatic foam or bag, then bubble wrap, then a small box.
Bubble-wrap each stick individually. Never two sticks loose in a bag — they touch and pins bend.
Antistatic bag, then 2 layers of bubble wrap, then a padded envelope inside a small box.
4 · Postage at your cost
You arrange and pay for postage to our address (we email it after you lock your quote). Use any UK carrier — Royal Mail Tracked for small lots, DPD or Evri for larger ones.
Tracking the parcel is worth doing — replies move faster once we can see it's on the way. Once we have it, you'll get a confirmation of receipt within the day.
5 · We test on receipt
Every component is bench-tested on receipt — boots, pin check, thermal check at full load. We email you a per-line grading report (typically 1–2 business days; faster on small batches, longer on 500+ component bulk consignments).
If everything's Grade A, you get the quoted price. If something's Grade B (cosmetic flaws), C (untested but pulled from a working system), or X (faulty), we explain the adjustment and ask you to confirm before payment goes out.
6 · You get paid
Once you accept the grading report, payment goes by Faster Payments — typically same business day on small batches, 1–2 business days on 500+ component bulk runs. UK Faster Payments usually clear in your bank within an hour or two of being sent.
