How we grade 2TB drives on receipt

Grade A — 100% SMART health

Drive reports 100% SMART drive health on receipt — no reallocated sectors, no end-of-life flags, no media-wear warnings. Pays at the listed price above.

Grade B — 80–99% health

SMART reports 80–99% drive health. We pay pro-rata: 90% drive pays 90% of list, 85% drive pays 85%, etc.

Grade C — untested

Pulled from working system but we couldn't SMART-check (no compatible adapter, etc). Pays 60–80% as deposit, balance after later test.

Grade X — <80% / faulty

Below 80% drive health, dead controller, won't enumerate. We don't pay for these — returned at our cost or routed through our WEEE channel, your call.

Wipe (optional) and post

If you want to wipe yourself first, fine — we re-wipe regardless on receipt. M.2 NVMe in anti-static sleeve or bubble wrap; 2.5" SSDs can stack with bubble wrap between. Padded box, post via any UK carrier.

Get paid

We securely wipe (multi-pass cryptographic erase), SMART-check, and email a per-line grading report (typically 1–2 business days). Once you accept, payment by Faster Payments — UK Faster Payments usually clear in your bank within an hour or two of being sent.

2.5" SATA SSDs: Samsung 870 EVO / 870 QVO, Crucial MX500, Kingston KC600 / DC500, WD Blue, SanDisk Ultra 3D — all paid at the same per-capacity rate as NVMe (form factor doesn't change resale value).

Enterprise U.2: Intel D7-P5510, Samsung PM1733 / PM1735, Kioxia CD6, Micron 7400 — same per-capacity rate. Enterprise drives often have higher endurance and may report higher SMART health for longer; that improves Grade A confidence.

Common questions about selling 2TB drives

What if my 2TB drive shows 95% SMART health?

Grade B at 95% — pays 95% of £28. We pay pro-rata down to 80% health.

2TB SATA SSD vs 2TB NVMe — does the form factor affect the price?

No. Same per-capacity rate. The market for both is steady on the secondary side.

What about 2TB drives without their original retail box?

Box has no resale value to us — we pay the same regardless. Send the bare drive in a padded sleeve.

I have multiple 2TB drives — better rate at volume?

Per-drive rate stays the same. For sustained monthly volume (10+ drives), recurring sellers can earn 5–15% over public list on sustained volume — see the bulk & trade page.

Old 2TB drives still worth sending?

If they pass SMART (≥80% health), yes. Even early Samsung 850 EVO 2TB drives that boot clean pay Grade B if cosmetics are weathered.
