Who this is for

Trade

Repair shops & refurbishers

Steady inflow of pulled components from upgrades, RMAs, and trade-ins. Monthly or fortnightly batches via post.

Trade

ITAD partners

Higher-yield resale path for working components in your processing stream — instead of routing them to scrap.

Trade

Recyclers

Diverting working stock from per-tonne scrap into per-part buyback. The same chip is worth 50–100× more whole than melted.

Trade

Businesses & local authorities

IT refresh decommissions where you want documented data wiping plus a paid resale path for working components.

How bulk works

1

Volume uplift on Grade A

Indicative +5–15% over public list on Grade A units, scaled by volume and product mix. Custom rates on high-tier units (i9 14th-gen, 4TB+ enterprise NVMe, 128GB DDR5).

2

Post or scheduled pickup

Small batches: any UK carrier (Royal Mail Tracked, DPD, Evri). Larger batches (30kg+ or recurring monthly): we arrange courier pickup. Drop-offs at our Rochdale facility by appointment also welcome.

3

Batch grading

Components arrive boxed, tested in batch on receipt. Per-batch grading report by email with per-line model / grade / payable amount. Photo evidence on regraded units.

4

Wipe records on storage drives

Every SSD/NVMe is securely wiped on receipt before any test or resale. Per-batch wipe record provided with serial numbers — useful for end-client ITAD reporting.

5

Mixed batches welcome

You don't need to sort by component type before sending. We accept and grade mixed pallets — saves you sorting time on your end.

6

Paid after testing

We pay by Faster Payments after grading — usually the same business day for normal batches, 1–2 business days on 500+ component batches. No formal invoicing setup required for one-off batches.

Worked examples

Realistic figures from the kinds of batches we see.

Example 1

UK refurb shop · monthly batch

~30 swapped-out CPUs (RMA + upgrade jobs, mixed gens), ~25 leftover CPUs from non-refurbed donors, ~80 sticks of mixed RAM, ~20 SSD/NVMe drives.

Grade A buyback total: ~£1,750/month. Time spent on the seller's end: ~45 minutes/month bagging and posting.

Example 2

200-machine office IT refresh

~200 desktop CPUs (mostly i5/i7 8th-10th gen), ~400 sticks of DDR4 RAM (16GB / 32GB mix), ~250 SSDs (256GB / 512GB / 1TB), ~10 high-tier i9 14th-gen.

Grade A buyback total: ~£11,700. Realistic net after typical 10% downgrade headroom: ~£10,500.

Example 3

5kg mixed pulled CPUs (recycler)

Approx 200 mixed CPUs across 8th-14th generation Intel Core. Sold to scrap at the weighbridge: ~£75 (£15/kg). Sold per part to ChipFlip:

~£5,340 Grade A. 70× the scrap-rate alternative on the same kilo.

What to include in your enquiry

A short list cuts back-and-forth. Send any of these via WhatsApp or email.

  • Rough breakdown — generations and approximate counts (e.g. "30× i7 9th-13th gen, 50× i5 various, 100× DDR4 RAM"). Exact model list is great if you have it.
  • Photos — even rough phone photos help us verify generations and condition. WhatsApp them through.
  • Postcode — for batches over 30kg we may quote a courier pickup; postcode tells us the route.
  • Frequency — one-off, monthly, weekly? Sustained volume gets the uplift over public list.
  • Anything time-sensitive — if you have a deadline (e.g. office clearance date), tell us up-front so we can plan capacity.

For 500+ component batches, also send a sample SKU list (a CSV or even a screenshot from your inventory system works) so we can quote per-line accurately.

What we accept (and don't)

What we buy

Intel Core CPUs (i3 / i5 / i7 / i9) Consumer DDR4 / DDR5 RAM (8GB+ sticks) M.2 NVMe / U.2 / 2.5" SATA SSDs (256GB+)

What we don't

Motherboards GPUs Mechanical HDDs DDR2 / DDR3 RAM PSUs / cases / chassis Engineering samples (ES/QS)Consumer AMD Ryzen / Threadripper desktop

Server-grade CPUs (Xeon, EPYC) and ECC server RAM (RDIMM / LRDIMM) from modern servers — yes, we buy these on receipt-quote (no fixed list). WhatsApp a rough breakdown alongside your consumer batch and we'll quote both. If a batch contains components we don't accept, we route them through a separate WEEE channel at no extra charge — no need to send them back.

Common questions from bulk sellers

How quickly do you turn around a 500-component batch?
Target 1–2 business days from receipt to per-line grading report. Payment goes out by Faster Payments once you accept the report — typically same business day on smaller batches, 1–2 business days on 500+.
Do we need to sort by component type before sending?
No. Mixed pallets and sacks are fine. Sorting is cheap for us at scale; no point you spending the labour cost on your end.
What if our batch contains components you don't buy?
We separate on receipt and route them via our WEEE channel at no cost to you. The grading report only lines-out items we paid for.
What if a chip arrives damaged in transit?
Photographs of damaged units within 24 hours of receipt. Cosmetic damage from poor packaging usually drops Grade A → Grade B. Severe damage (cracked die, bent pin grid) grades X — returned at our cost or routed through WEEE if you'd rather not have it back.
Photo ID for repeat sellers — every time?
One-time only. UK Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 requires verification on first sale. Director or designated rep submits ID, kept on file 2 years for repeat sales. More on photo ID →
Recurring monthly batches — same prices?
Yes, same per-part rate every batch. Sustained volume earns the 5–15% uplift on Grade A; the more you send month-on-month, the better the uplift sits.
Can we visit the Rochdale facility?
Yes, by appointment. Useful for trade buyers wanting to see the bench-test setup. Email info@chipflip.co.uk a working day in advance.
