Terms & Conditions

The terms on which you sell components to ChipFlip. Read these alongside our Privacy Policy and Secure Disposal Statement.

Last updated · 7 May 2026

1 · About these terms

These terms govern any sale of used IT components from you to Pyco Renew Ltd (trading as ChipFlip). By accepting a quote, you agree to these terms.

"We", "us" and "our" mean Pyco Renew Ltd. "You" means the person or business selling components to us.

2 · Eligibility

To sell to us you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a UK resident or a UK-registered business
  • Be the lawful owner of the components, or be authorised to sell them on the owner's behalf
  • Be able to provide the photo ID and proof of address required under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013

You confirm these conditions are true when you accept a quote.

3 · Quotes

Quotes generated through our prices page or by email are valid for 7 calendar days from the date issued. Quoted prices apply to Grade A condition (see Section 6).

A quote is an invitation for you to send us your components. It does not become a binding contract until we have:

  • Received your components and your verified ID, and
  • Confirmed the price after grading.

Until we confirm the final price after grading, either party may withdraw without liability.

4 · Identity verification

Before paying for a first sale, we are required by the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 to record and verify your identity. We will ask for:

  • Photo ID (passport, photocard driving licence, biometric residence permit, or national ID card)
  • Proof of address dated within the last 3 months

If we cannot verify your identity to the standard required by the Act, we are obliged to refuse the sale and will return your components to you at our cost. Verified identity records are retained for 2 years from your last transaction. See our Photo ID help page for full details.

5 · How to send your components

For accepted quotes, you arrange and pay for postage to our address (which we email after you lock the quote).

You are responsible for packaging components adequately. Damage caused by inadequate packing may result in a regrade (see Section 6) and we are not liable for components damaged in transit due to packing failures. Guidance is on our How it works page.

6 · Grading

Every component is bench-tested on receipt and graded:

A

Tested working

Boots cleanly, no bent pins, no thermal damage. Pays at the quoted price.

B

Working with cosmetic flaws

Boots fine, minor scuffs, sticker residue, or one slightly bent pin. Pays at 80–90% of list.

C

Untested by you

Pulled from a working system but not bench-tested. Pays 60–80% as a deposit, balance on confirmation.

X

Faulty / damaged

Won't boot, cracked die, bent pins beyond repair, burnt. Not bought.

If we regrade a component below the quoted Grade A, we will email you photos and the regrade reason within 24 hours. You may:

  • Accept the regrade and proceed at the adjusted price, or
  • Reject the regrade — we return the components to you at our cost.

Failure to respond within 14 days of the regrade email is treated as acceptance.

7 · Items we don't buy

We don't buy: motherboards, graphics cards, PSUs, cases, mechanical hard drives, DDR2/DDR3 RAM, SSDs under 128GB, mobile (BGA-soldered) CPUs, or engineering samples. If a parcel contains items we don't buy, we will:

  • Recycle them through our WEEE-compliant pipeline at no charge, or
  • Return them with the rest of your parcel if you reject the regrade for the items we did want.

We will not pay for non-buy items even if they are bench-tested and working.

8 · Title and risk

Risk in the components passes to us when Royal Mail or DPD collects from you (or, if you post yourself, when the parcel is delivered to our facility). Title (legal ownership) passes to us only when we have paid you in full for the agreed grade.

9 · Payment

Once you have accepted the final grade, we pay by Faster Payments to your nominated UK bank account. UK Faster Payments usually clear in your bank within an hour or two of being sent. We do not pay by cheque, cash, cryptocurrency, or gift cards.

For recurring sellers on terms, payment follows the agreed invoicing cycle.

10 · Data on storage drives

Every SSD, NVMe drive and storage device is wiped to NIST 800-88 Purge standard on receipt, before any further processing. We do not read, copy or attempt to recover data from any drive sent to us. See our Secure Disposal Statement for the full policy.

11 · Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with any single sale is limited to the value of that sale (i.e. the agreed payout). We are not liable for indirect, consequential or pure economic loss.

12 · Intellectual property

13 · Variation

We may update these terms from time to time. The version applying to your sale is the version published when you accepted the quote.
