How we grade Intel i7 chips on receipt
Grade A — tested working
Boots cleanly on our test bench, no bent pins, no thermal damage, no missing IHS or capacitors. Pays at the listed price above.
Grade B — cosmetic flaws
Boots fine but has minor cosmetic issues — sticker residue, scratches, slight discolouration. Pays 80–90% of Grade A.
Grade C — untested
Pulled from a working system but we couldn't bench-test (no compatible board, etc). Pays 60–80% as deposit, balance after later test.
Grade X — won't boot
Cracked die, bent pins beyond recovery, burnt or thermally damaged. We don't pay for these — returned at our cost or routed through our WEEE channel, your call.
How to sell your i7 in three steps
Build your quote
Use the live quote tool — tap + on your specific model. £30 minimum order; pair with another chip or any other component if a single i7 doesn't reach it.
Pack and post
Postal address arrives by email after you lock the quote. Wrap each chip individually (keep pin-grids protected), padded envelope or small box, post via any UK carrier — Royal Mail Tracked is fine.
Get paid
We bench-test on receipt and email a per-line grading report (typically 1–2 business days). Once you accept, payment goes out by Faster Payments — UK Faster Payments usually clear in your bank within an hour or two of being sent.
What we don't buy
- Mobile and embedded i7 chips (BGA-soldered laptop CPUs, NUCs) — desktop LGA i7s only
- Pre-3rd gen i7s (i7-2xxx and earlier) — limited secondary market; we'll route them through our WEEE channel at no charge if sent in a mixed batch
- Engineering samples and ES/QS chips — Intel licensing terms make these legally awkward to resell
- Chips with cracked die or burnt IHS — Grade X, no per-part value
- Bent-pin units beyond recovery — we'll attempt straightening for free (~70% recovery rate); units we can't recover are graded X
